Goodbye, Rye-Man

Goodbye my silly Rye-Man. No dog will ever be as giving and squishy and happy for even the shortest of walks. I'll forever miss your whistle and your goose honk and your big beautiful face. It's been a great four years... xxx

Hugs to you, we all loved him, he was such a great fur-baby!

He is already missed. The way he would waddle up to you and nuzzle you until you gave him some attention not to mention how he would greet you when you got home by looking out the window and meeting you at the door with his loud and friendly bark. and look out if you got the collar and leash out! Speaking of barking, what he wouldn't say for a dog treat and he just could not help himself but to sing along when he heard a harmonica.

As all Bassett's do, he certainly had his quirks that will be missed as well. For some reason, he thought he was a big old lap dog and would jump right up on the couch and just plop right down on your lap. He had this way of somehow taking up the most real estate possible on the couch or in bed.

Heaven help any toy with a squeeker! It was doomed from the get go. and it was hillarious when you put his food down and he would go and observe it. You better have put something special on top or he would simply stare up at you with those questioning eyes that clearly asked "you expect me to eat this?"

Well, he had a good and happy life while he was with Heather that I was lucky enough to share in and I am glad it ended peacefully and quickly. I choose to remember him smiling, on a pleasant walk in the woods or riding in the truck/jeep. Ride on Ryeman! Ride on!

All of my love to you HH. You were his saving grace. Thank you for always opening your home to these babies and loving them the very most.
